Because You're Over 30 AND Have A Baby

Last week I had the worst headache of my life. I've never been a person with headaches, so imagine my surprise when I woke up Monday morning feeling like someone was drilling into my skull. I tried everything to get rid of it, wasn’t happening. I went to bed with a headache and I woke up Tuesday with the same mind numbing pain. By Tuesday Josh was over it, so he took me to the doctor. The doctor gave me some medication and that took care of the problem.

My doctor wasn't in on Tuesday, so he asked me to come in on Wednesday to follow up. After patiently listening to all of my self diagnosis, he informed me that I have migraines. He explained, "This happens to a lot of women in their 30's that have had babies." I told him that I didn’t want migraines and I couldn't accept that answer." He wrote me a prescription for migraine medication. End of conversation.

What I really want to talk about is caring for a child when you feel like you might die, it's rough. This is one of those things that they don't tell you about before you have kids. There are no sick days. If someone would have told me that I would have brushed them off. I probably would have said, "That’s no problem, I'm never sick." I guess a woman in her 30's shouldn't make those kinds of bold statements.

Josh had to work the Fever game Monday night, so Mom came over and bathed Blake and put her to bed. Thankfully Emily and Zach came over and played Tuesday afternoon so I could go to the doctor. We are lucky to have so many helping hands.

There is a new development in our house. Blake now has a blankey. We have several different blankets for her crib and I change them around all the time. I realized this one was her favorite when she got it out of the dirty laundry, more than once. She likes to carry it around until she finds the perfect spot where she lays on it, with the fingers in the mouth.

We went to the Highlander Festival at Apple Works on Saturday and had a great time. We walked through the orchard and went through the petting zoo. We left with some yummy apple treats. The week didn't start out so good, but it ended on a good note.

Until next time
