And Don't You Forget It

One of the reasons I created this blog was so that I would have something to go back and read when Blake is older and I start to forget all of the sweet, funny, ridiculous things she does. Lately, she's been so much fun and I thought I better get it all down before she moves on to something else.

I live in constant fear of the, "terrible twos." I try to remind myself to enjoy now and not worry about the future.  She has her unruly moments, but for the most part she's been so much fun.

1. Playing Pretend- When she doesn't think I'm watching she goes in her little teepee and talks to her stuffed animals. Sometimes I catch her laughing. I tried to help her host a tea party, but she just wanted to eat all of her guest’s cookies. Pretend works best when I'm not around.

2. Wearing Mommy's Clothes- She loves necklaces, bracelets, scarves, purses, but most of all she loves my shoes.

3. Snack Time - When Blake wakes up from her nap she has juice and a snack. We usually sit on the bottom step in the kitchen and share the snack. I love this little bit of time together. We just sit and talk. So great!

4. Singing-She's now singing to me! Ever since she was a little baby I’ve sung "Baby Beluga," before bedtime. For those of you who don't know, it's a Raffi tune. All of a sudden she started singing it for me. Now I have a treat for all of you.

Until next time

Raise Your Hand

I'd like to open up a topic up for discussion among the mommies who read this blog. I'd like to talk about the times that you accidentally injure the kids. That's right ladies, I'm putting it out there. I need you to all put on your big girl panties and start admitting the truth. I'm not going to stew in this guilt alone!

Ok, here is the story. Blake and I made green Rice Krispie treats for St. Patty's day. We decided to take some over to the neighbors. Blake was standing on the porch step and I was coming out behind her. Jaeger, did I mention that we were babysitting, tried to make a run for it. I panicked, because the neighbor's daughter is afraid of him. I did a quick turn and managed to knock Blake off the step with my sizable back side.
 Mommy's little kitchen helper

She cut her lip on her vest zipper. She was crying and bleeding. She had never had a bleeding injury before. I was totally freaked out.  She cried for a nanosecond, then was asking for "Gaby Gaby," that's Yo Gabba Gabba to you and me.
Popsicles are great for swelling

The effects of her injury lasted much longer than the crying. Josh was on the road, so I had hours upon hours to relive the horror. Katie called me later that evening and I started crying on the phone, like a crazy person! The next morning Blake woke up with the nastiest scab on her lip. Someone at Gymboree asked me if it was a canker sore, ewwww. Is there no end to the guilt!

It was an accident. I didn't mean to do it. She's like an extension of my leg and I'm a very clumsy person! I'm afraid this could happen again. I would feel a lot better if other mothers would just admit that these things happen to them, wouldn't you? Am I all alone? Come on women unite!

Moving on. This little girl is chatty. I'm surprised every single day. We have full conversations. I remember when our days together were full of silence with brief bursts of crying. She's just so big.

She loves music. She lets me know when one of her songs is on the radio. I get song requests when we're home. Currently her favorite is Kelly Clarkson.

Blake and I have pink eye. I NEVER had it when I was a kid. I'm pretty sure we got it at Monkey Joe's, that's a bouncer house play land kind of place for those who don't know. You're not safe anywhere. We've got our eye drops, if only I could get them in her eyes.
